1. Find a participating bank or credit union.

2. Remember to bring some identification.
If you don't have a Social Security number, some banks and credit unions will accept your passport, California ID, Mexican Matriculate card, or Guatemalan Consular identification card. And most banks will request a second form of ID, not including cell phone bills. Click here for a list of accepted IDs.
3. Open your new bank account.
The person at the bank will walk you through the entire process. And they can even sign you up for free money management training classes to help you get the most from your bank account.
