Oakland CARES Act: Starter Personal Protective Equipment Kits for Small Businesses

To help businesses comply with health guidance to operate in a safe manner, the Economic & Workforce Development Department procured supplies to assemble and deliver 800 starter Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Kits for small businesses.

Program Overview

Each PPE kit contained masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant spray. In addition to the PPE Kits, 1,000 sneeze guards for retail shops and restaurants were also provided. The kits and sneeze guards were distributed to small businesses in Oakland’s most COVID-19 impacted neighborhoods by our business support partners.

About $50,000 of CARES Act funds leveraged an additional $25,000 from the Opportunity Zones’ Cities of Service fund.
