The Oakland Medical Reserve Corps was established to enlist active and retired medical professionals and citizen volunteers to assist in the establishment of an organized pool of resources capable of being deployed to support Emergency Management Systems already in place in the event of a major emergency.

The City of Oakland Medical Reserve Corps was officially approved April 10, 2007. Established to provide volunteer medical professionals and resources Oakland’s MRC will augment those services in the community that are engaged in the health and welfare of our citizens.

One of the main objectives for the Oakland Medical Reserve Corps is to assist the City of Oakland and Alameda County Public Health with the distribution of mass prophylaxis in the event of Bioterrorism or Epidemic Outbreak.
