Bike Share

The City of Oakland's bike share program, now called Bay Wheels, is operated by Lyft. The regional docked system, previously known as Ford GoBike, launched in July 2017.

City-Owned Parking Garages and Lots

The City of Oakland's Off-Street Parking Program is organized within the Department of Transportation's Parking & Mobility Division. The program is authorized by Article XXVII of the City Charter. The City uses professional parking operators to operate and manage these facilities with the aim of maximizing their value for the surrounding districts. Bus Shelters and Street Furniture

​The City has entered into agreement with Clear Channel Adshel to install and maintain illuminated advertising bus shelters, which include litter containers installed near bus shelters, as well as AC Transit-provided bus system information.

Sidewalk FAQ

Property owners in Oakland are responsible for repairing damaged sidewalks adjacent to their property per state and local laws. Sidewalk Permits from the City are required for sidewalk repairs larger than 25 square feet. A licensed contractor should perform all other repairs.

​The Alameda County Transportation Commission's Transportation Expenditure Plan (TEP) is a 30-year plan that includes strict accountability measures to ensure all funds are spent on approved projects. It requires an open and transparent public process to allocate the funds.
