Public Artist Training - Demystifying Public Art Webinars

In 2021, the Oakland Public Art Program staff and the Public Art Administrators Network of Northern CA (NorCal PAAN) launched a series of free webinars for artists to provide insight into the field of public art. The series was designed to demystify the field and open the door to a wide range of artists with diverse backgrounds and artistic expressions. Each virtual workshop featured presentations by three accomplished public artists and moderated by experienced public art administrators. Hosted on San Francisco Arts Commission's website.

Rabbit Foster Program

Rabbits can be great companions, but have particular needs. For example, many don’t enjoy being picked up, and are extremely vulnerable to injury if picked up in an unsafe manner. Through our foster program, we’re looking for a safe environment for rabbits with people who have experience with rabbits or all willing to learn about their unique needs.

Racial Profiling Ad Hoc

This ad hoc committee serves as a dedicated forum to address the complex issues o racial profiling while promoting community policing principles. Its temporary nature allows for focused attention on these critical matters, aiming to create lasting improvements in law enforcement practices and relationships between the police and the diverse communities they serve.

Senate Bill 721 (Building Standards: Decks and Balconies: Inspection) would require any building subject to these provisions that is proposed for conversion to condominiums to be sold to the public after January 1, 2019, to have the required inspection conducted prior to the first close of escrow of a separate interest in the project, and would require the inspection report and written confirmation by the inspector that any recommended repairs or replacements have been completed to be submitted to, among others, the Department of Real Estate and included in certain required statements and reports, as specified.
