Non-Interference in Administrative Affairs
The Commission oversees compliance with Oakland law governing:
Past Commissioner Eddie Tejeda and Executive Director Whitney Barazoto highlighting the Open Disclosure project and the Commission's collaboration with Open Oakland in "Partnering for Public Trust" at the 2015 Code for America Summit.
The City of Oakland receives tickets to every Raiders, Oakland A’s, and Warriors game as well as all other Oracle Arena and Coliseum events resulting in thousands of tickets distributed to the City each year. Most tickets go directly to Council members, who must disclose how the tickets are used.
The Oakland City Charter requires the Public Ethics Commission to adjust the salary for City Councilmember each year according to the increase in the Consumer Price Index for the preceding year.
