Find a Police Area or Beat

The Oakland Police Department is organized into six Police Areas as well as into 35 Police Beats. A Community Resource Officer (CRO) and Neighborhood Council serve each Beat to promote public safety.

Police Oversight

Oakland's Negotiated Settlement Agreement (NSA), Civilian Police Commission, and Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provide layers of external oversight as well as internal oversight to OPD practices and policies.

Zero Waste Services Procurement History

The City of Oakland adopted a Zero Waste Strategic Plan in 2006. In 2011 the City began a process of Zero Waste System Design preparing for the expiration of Franchise service contracts in 2015. This page documents the steps the City took in that process from design through the issuance of new contracts. Material is shown in reverse chronological order.

The Safer Housing for Oakland Program (SHOP) offered grants to support seismic retrofits of apartment buildings with five or more units and a “soft story” condition between 2018 and 2022.
