Right-of-Way or Public Easement Dedication (PPE)

Dedicating public right-of-way or easements allows a property owner to legally transfer a portion of their property for public use.

  • City staff determines the appropriate category of dedication for each application.
  • All dedications require City Council action and must comply with state laws and local ordinances.
  • Once the dedication is approved by City Council, it is recorded at Alameda County Recorder Office.

Apply By Email: email your completed application to DOTOnlinePermits@oaklandca.gov.
