Many construction projects will require a Special Inspection as per the California Building Codes or the City of Oakland. Note that required Special Inspections ARE NOT in lieu of City of Oakland Planning and Building Permit Inspections. Only the City of Oakland permit inspector may approve construction milestones and allow for the project to continue with work.

Please find a link to an FAQ for Special Inspections and a link for a list of the Recognized Special Inspection and Testing agencies as per the Regional Interagency Special Inspector list. Projects not utilizing a Special Inspector from the list may use the form to be able to perform Special Inspections as per California Building Code Chapter 17.
