Clean Vehicle Assistance Program

Provides grants and affordable financing to help income-qualified Californians purchase or lease a new or used hybrid or electric vehicle.

$2,500 to $5,000

Driving Clean Assistance Program

Offers financial education and down payment assistance program for clean energy vehicles offered to low-income families/individuals.

Grant of up to $5,000 (amount depends on income level and the vehicle type); financing up to $20,000

Clean Vehicle Rebate Project

Promotes clean vehicle adoption by offering rebates for the purchase or lease of new, eligible zero-emission vehicles while funds last.

Up to $7,000

California Clean Fuel Reward

Available to anyone who buys or leases a new electric vehicle with a battery capacity greater than 5 kWh from a participating automotive retailer.

$800 to $1,500 depending on vehicle battery size

Vehicle Retirement Consumer Assistance Program

Offers eligible consumers a financial incentive to retire their operational vehicle at a Bureau of Automotive Repairs-contracted auto dismantler.

$1,000 or $1,500

Federal Tax Credit

All-electric and plug-in hybrid cars purchased new in or after 2010 may be eligible for a federal income tax credit.

Up to $7,500 based on capacity of battery
