License Your Dog

Two different options are available for Oakland residents licensing dogs- online, or by mail.

To license your animal online, go to PetData.com and enter your zip code. You can license multiple pets at the same time, and easily upload required documents. All major credit cards are accepted, and a small convenience fee will apply per transaction.

To license by mail, simply mail a copy of your pet's current rabies certificate and any other applicable documentation, along with your check payable to:

Residents of the City of Oakland may have their pet microchipped at Oakland Animal Services for a fee.

A rabies vaccination is required before a pet can be licensed. Licenses are not valid until a current rabies certificate is submitted.

In order to obtain the spay/neuter discount, proof of sterilization must be on file with Oakland Animal Services.
