Sign Up for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)

The ACP provides a $30 monthly discount on internet service to qualifying households making internet service free through many plans.

IMPORTANT NOTICE Regarding The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)

Funding for the ACP is expected to end April 30, 2024, unless Congress approves additional funding. After ACP ends, those enrolled in the program could experience an increase of up to $30 on their internet or cell phone bill unless they cancel or change their service plan. Please contact your provider if you have additional questions.

How to Apply

  1. Find out if you qualify

    72,105 Oakland households are eligible. You qualify if you (or someone in your household) participate in at least one of these programs:

    • Student at an Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) or Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school
    • Medicaid, WIC, SNAP, EBT
    • SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance
    • Lifeline
    • Pell Grant
    • and more

    OR

    Your household income is at or below a certain amount (e.g. $55,500/year for a family of four, $27,180/year for an individual).

  2. Submit an application

    You can submit an application online, by mail, or through an internet service provider.

    Applying online is the easiest and fastest way if you have an email address. You can also apply by mail, or call an internet service provider and ask for help.

    What will I need to apply?

    • An Email Address (if you are applying online)

    • Form of Identification
      Last 4-digits of you Social Security Number OR Driver's License, Passport (US or Foreign), Birth Certificate, ITIN
    • Proof of Eligibility
      Documentation that shows your enrollment in a qualifying program: SNAP, WIC, Medi-Cal, OUSD letter and more.

  3. Pick an internet plan

    All Oakland based Internet Service Providers are currently offering the ACP benefit. If you already have internet service, you can apply the ACP discount to it. Otherwise, you will need to set up new service. Find a provider >

    Tips to pick the right internet plan.

    • Ask the provider for plans that are free with the ACP and provide download speeds of 100mbps or higher.
    • Ask about hidden costs, like prices that increase over time, installation fees, and equipment fees.
