The City of Oakland's Recycling team, in partnership with the Community Gardens program, is having a FREE compost giveaway at 8 community gardens around Oakland. Come bring your container to your nearest community garden on 4/20, Oakland Earth Day, from 10am - 2pm and enjoy some fresh air and green spaces with your neighbors! This year, we're popping up at:
- Marston Campbell Garden (17th and West)
- Golden Gate Community Garden (1068 62nd St)
- Mosswood Garden (Webster and MacArthur)
- Union Plaza Garden (3399 Peralta St)
- Arroyo Viejo Garden (7701 Krause Ave)
- Temescal Community Garden (876 47th St)
- Cesar Chavez Community Garden (3705 Foothill Ave)
- Bella Vista Garden (1036 E 28th St)
This is the second year the City of Oakland is hosting a free compost giveaway on Earth Day and is working to establish compost hubs throughout Oakland for long-term compost giveaways. If you are interesting in hosting a compost hub, please email recycling@oaklandca.gov for more details.
