Neighborhood Services Coordinators (NSC)

We help residents work together in partnership with the police department and other city departments to address ongoing problems in their neighborhoods.

About

Neighborhood Services Coordinators (NSCs) are assigned to each of the 57 community policing beats in Oakland. They help residents work together and in partnership with the Police and other City departments. Neighborhood Councils (NCs) have been established in each community policing beat so residents can get to know each other, identify problems, and work together to solve those problems. The NCs are part of Oakland’s community policing program.

What do Neighborhood Services Coordinators do?

1. Work for concrete improvements in their neighborhoods

2. Help identify leaders and participants for NCs and Neighborhood Watch

3. Help NC leaders access the City of Oakland and other agencies so they will be more responsive to their neighborhood needs.
