With funding commitments from the City of Oakland and grant funding from the US Department of Transportation, Transportation Commissions of the State of California and Alameda County, the City, in cooperation with the Port of Oakland, is leveraging significant private investment to transform the former Oakland Army Base into a modern logistics center and mixed-use redevelopment. This redevelopment will benefit the local, county-wide and regional jurisdictions by creating: (1) new public infrastructure and (2) private development that together will provide new jobs, fiscal returns and improve the local and regional transportation system.
Since 2010, Oakland has added over 4,000 businesses and diversified our sector portfolio.

Our center is a terrific place to socialize and interact with other active seniors. Located across from Lake Merritt, Downtown Oakland Senior Center is Oakland's oldest and largest senior center. Downtown Oakland Senior Center focuses on providing seniors with innovative programs and services that address the physical, mental, and emotional well being of older adults.
The Downtown Oakland Specific Plan (DOSP) was adopted by City Council on July 16, 2024. This comprehensive plan is the first of its kind for Downtown Oakland. It will guide downtown development to meet Oakland’s projected housing and employment needs over the next 20 years, while preserving and enhancing the dynamic culture that Oaklanders treasure.
Over the past four years, the City has made an effort to engage all Oakland communities in the Downtown Oakland Specific Plan planning process - those living both inside and outside of downtown.

The East Oakland Neighborhoods Initiative is a partnership between the City of Oakland Planning Bureau and twelve community-based organizations focused on equity-based planning for Deep East Oakland. Together, we have conducted a year of community outreach to identify the primary concerns, goals, and priorities for East Oakland residents and stakeholders. East Oakland Senior Center (EOSC) is situated at the Ira Jinkins Park in Oakland's Brookfield neighborhood. It is an essential component of a cluster of centers that collectively contribute significantly to the advancement and enrichment of the East Oakland community and the overall improvement in the residents' quality of life. EOSC offers a diverse range of activities and programs such as step exercise, karaoke, line dancing, pool, and food pantry distribution. Additionally, it organizes monthly day trips to various destinations, including eateries, bowling alleys, theaters, and casinos. The facility is open to both public and private events, providing a versatile space for gatherings and occasions.

The purpose of the Cellphones and Other Electronic Communication Devices Ad Hoc Committee is to consider for Commission adoption the Oakland Police Department's (Department) draft policy outlining the rules and expectations governing the on-duty use of Department-issued cellular phones and other Department-issued electronic devices, as well as personal cellular phones and other personal electronic devices. The policy includes direction on training and audit procedures. The policy will apply to full-time sworn officers, certain annuitants and reserve sworn officers, professional staff at the rank of supervisor and above, and others in the discretion of the Chief of Police.
