On November 8, 2022, Oakland voters approved ballot Measure W, the Oakland Fair Elections Act, creating a newly designed public campaign financing program that disperses $100 in Democracy Dollar vouchers to eligible Oakland residents who can then assign the Dollars to the candidate of their choice. The Democracy Dollars Program is expected to launch beginning in the 2026 election cycle.
The mission of the Rent Adjustment Program is to promote community stability, healthy housing, and diversity for Oakland residents, while preventing illegal rent increases and evictions, and ensuring a fair return for property owners.

The City of Oakland and partners are working to monitor, understand, and improve Lake Merritt water quality and maintain healthy conditions for fish and wildlife in the Lake. This work is aimed at preventing future fish kills like the one that occurred in August of 2022. This work builds off a legacy of habitat and water quality improvements to the Lake through Measure DD and other City and community efforts.
