Noah Smith joined the MCPD in 2018. He served as Commission Chair in 2021. He has resided in the Bay Area since 2007 and Oakland since 2011. During the day, Noah is an attorney with the Environmental Protection Agency, where he works on Clean Air Act and Tribal Law issues and also serves as the AFGE Union Representative on the national Reasonable Accommodations Workgroup.
Noah graduated with a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Oregon in 2006. In 2007 he received a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship and in 2010 graduated from Berkeley Law School. During law school, he was a founding board member of the National Association of Law Students With Disabilities, where he served in various roles including Chief Information Officer, Vice-President, and President. He also participated in Berkeley Law’s Human Rights Clinic and Disability Law Society. In his free time Noah enjoys watching film, writing, and collecting records.
